Vitamin B12 Deficiency The Shot In The Arm You May Need For Diet Therapy

Vitamin B12 Deficiency The Shot In The Arm You May Need For Diet Therapy

What exactly is vitamin B12 and why do we need it? Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that is found in our food and we need it to keep our nerve cells healthy and to keep our red blood cells at optimum efficiency. It is also extremely important for proper digestion; in fact, our stomach acids grab the B12 from food and mix it with IF, which is then easily absorbed by the intestinal tract.

If you have a vitamin B12 deficiency, you are likely to feel tired, lightheaded, and weak. You may have a sore tongue or your gums may bleed. You will probably experience digestion problems – either diarrhea or constipation. You may feel tingling in your hands or feet, get out of breath easily, hear a ringing sound in your ears, have chest pain, and develop neurological symptoms such as forgetfulness, a lack of ability to focus, and becoming easily confused.

Most people do not suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency, as it is readily available in a lot of different foods, but mostly meat, so sometimes vegetarians and vegans do not get enough B12 from their diets. If you do have a vitamin B12 deficiency, it is probably most likely due to some disorder of the digestive system. People with chronic diarrhea, Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, and the like are likely to have B12 anemia because of their inability to absorb the B12 they ingest.

Vitamin B12 is a known energy booster, and as such many dieticians and physicians are recommending weight loss patients, whether or not they have a vitamin B12 deficiency, include a shot in their diet therapy. The reason for this is most people who diet; tend to complain about losing energy, perhaps because of their limited calorie intake. Since B12 is a big energy provider, many health care professionals and lay people alike swear that dieters should follow a regimen for vitamin B12 deficiency diet therapy. Most weight loss clinics include B12 injections as part of their overall healthy weight loss plans.

Neurologists, gastroenterologists, and family physicians also see the benefits of vitamin B12 deficiency diet therapy. As people get older, they may eat a lesser variety of foods, and combined with the decrease in cognitive functioning people tend to display in their older years, vitamin B12 diet therapy is often seen as necessary. Even most doctors who treat patients with Alzheimer’s recommend B12 as a general blood cell booster to help with cognitive abilities. Because a vitamin B12 deficiency can often result in an inability to focus and concentrate, students may also benefit from being tested for B12 levels.

Vitamin B12 deficiency diet therapy has also been shown to reduce cravings. If you can eliminate or greatly reduce your desire for those foods that you know are not good for you, you are well on your way to overcoming food and weight loss difficulties. Vitamin B12 is a great energy source and a valuable craving reduction tool.

Diet Pills – A Risky Idea

Diet Pills – A Risky Idea

I wish I had a nickel for every weight loss aid and pill on the market. You and I could both retire. Many of these have been associated with serious medical risks, including heart attack, heart abnormalities, tachycardia, stroke, seizures and death. That’s pretty scary!
Most diet pills are appetite suppressants of one kind or another, generally stimulants with effects similar to those of amphetamine. They’re okayed for treatment of obesity, where it’s considered that the health risks associated with obesity outweigh the risks of the medication.
But is you have less than 30 pounds to lose, the risks are far less cut-and-dried. Over the counter medications and their risks are not as well-documented as the effects of prescription diet pills. Herbal preparation effects are documented even less, especially those whose makers don’t officially make weight loss claims.
Here’s part of the problem. As long as they don’t contain a ‘new’ ingredient, or one that has never been marketed for weight loss purposes, weight-loss aids are not subject to FDA review. Instead, the manufacturer is held responsible for the safety and effectiveness of their products. So a lot of times that means unregulated dosages, unhealthy additives and ineffective ingredients.
Hopefully, one day all over the counter medications and herbal preparations marketed as weight loss supplements will be labeled and tested by impartial researchers. Until then, there are some things that you can do to lessen diet pill risks.
Research thoroughly. There’s a lot of information out there about drugs and herbs like ephedra, ephinedrine, phentermine and sibutramine. Know what you’re taking and what the risks are so that you can watch for side effects.
Always talk to your doctor before you start taking any drug or herbal supplement. Yes, I know you’ve heard this a thousand times, but there are good reasons for the advice! Some products interact poorly with other medications, or have an adverse effect on chronic conditions.
Follow dosage instructions.
Overdoses of stimulant medications, which are a component of most weight loss preparations, can be serious and severe.
Don’t take any weight loss pill or supplement for more than a few weeks unless a doctor has prescribed it.
Ask your pharmacist when purchasing over the counter weight loss preparations to be sure that the ingredients don’t interact with other medications you may be taking. Include both prescription and nonprescription medications in your questions.
There are much more healthy and effective ways to lose weight than taking pills. The potential of serious health problems remains. It’s an awful lot of risk for a little weight loss.

The Mother’s Pregnancy and Obesity

The Mother’s Pregnancy and Obesity

The joy of being a mom is incomparable; but the joy of a woman having a lovely body is another thing.

Most women have the misconception that once you have your baby, then it is only normal to not be to able to return to your original slim-figure. This may be correct, but only in part. The amount of weight gained after childbirth is determined ‘normal’ only under set considerations. What the new mom needs to know first is to realize that there may be a possible correlation between her pregnancy and obesity.

The correlation between pregnancy and obesity is only recently thought of by research experts studying obesity. The pregnancy and obesity factor is often overshadowed by the improper eating habits cause of abnormal weight gain. Yet the pregnancy and obesity focus may prove as a lot more consequential according to various aspects.

First, determining the connection of pregnancy and obesity with the change in the woman’s body after childbirth may also point to other health risks other than obesity per se. Sudden excessive weight gain during post-partum may reflect– complications during pregnancy, stress incontinence or urine outflow, poor female reproductive health, or psychological disorders such as depression.

The last health risk in a mother undergoing weight gain could be considered as double-edged. As a woman’s body changes due to weight gain from pregnancy, more weight gain may result even more as effect of the weight gain.

On the other hand, while a woman may have low-self esteem due to apprehensions on her body-image after giving birth, she may also have more serious problems contributing to her weight-gain. It should also be noted that a woman may have emotional and psychosomatic disorders of coping up with the stresses of ‘being-a-mother’ hence leading to food binges, disrupted body mechanisms, weight gain, and eventually – to obesity.
In addition, some women also assume that fats accumulated from pregnancy will never disappear and that efforts to lose them would only leave them in vain. What they fail to realize though is that it normally takes up to only a good 9-months to get back to the weight prior to pregnancy. The go-slow approach-effort to after-pregnancy weight loss then, is best for the mother in order to give her body some time to recover after child-bearing.
While it may be acceptable for women to have the tendency to neglect the problem of weight gain as priority once placed side by side all her responsibilities of being a mother, a mother must still give her self a chance to have the beautiful healthy body that she deserves – while also bearing in mind that the health of the mother is also the health of her baby.

As reported in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recently published “Calories Count – Report of the Working Group on Obesity”, people who are overweight is a serious public health problem in the United States. Since the late 1980’s, adult obesity has steadily and substantially increased in the United States. Today, 64 percent of all Americans weigh too much and over 30 percent are obese; in 1988 through 1992, fewer than 56 percent were overweight and fewer than 23 percent of American adults were obese.

The trends for children are even more worrisome. Recent research by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that 15 percent of children and adolescents aged 6 to 19 are overweight – double the rate of two decades ago. As Americans get heavier, their health suffers. Overweight and obesity increase the risk for coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. According to some estimates, at least 400,000 deaths each year may be attributed to obesity.

What people must know is that you can improve your health quickly with just a small amount of weight loss. “We know that physical activity along with reduced calorie consumption can lead to the 5 to 10 percent weight loss necessary to achieve remission of the obesity-associated complications,” says William Dietz, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to Ken Black, founder of www.weight-loss-discovery.com, “losing one to two pounds a week is safe and recommended by most doctors for most people. This breaks down to 250 to 1,000 calories per day. You can achieve this easily if you follow some or all of the following guidelines” :

1. Use skim milk instead of whole milk or cream in your coffee.
2. Eat low fat yogurt instead of ice cream.
3. Eat more bright colored (green, yellow, orange, red) fruits and vegetables.
4. Eat more lean fish, chicken, or turkey, instead of red meats.
5. Eat whole wheat or multigrain bread, instead of white bread.
6. Use a sugar replacement instead of sugar (avoid Aspartame).
7. Drink water instead of soft drinks.
8. When you eat out, avoid fried foods.
9. Walk or do similar exercises (e.g. Golf, Tennis) at least 20 minutes a day.

If you do even just a couple of these every day for the next month, you’ll feel much better and you will lose weight (10 lbs. or more in 6-8 weeks).

And if you are concerned about getting hungry all the time, or losing your energy, try taking a safe appetite suppressant, like Herbal Phentermine. This supplement is not to be confused with the drug Phentermine, which has side effects like stomach upset, dry mouth and sleeplessness. The herbal variety is a non-prescription medication and has been tested for years to be safe for most people. It contains ingredients like green tea, acetyl L-carnitine, alpha lipoic acid, biotin and others, that control your appetite, yet increase your metabolism and energy.

However, do not take any herbal supplement without checking with your Doctor first, if you are on any prescription medications, due to possible interactions between the two, or if you have a special medical condition.

If you follow these simple steps, you will surely reach your weight loss goals and become a much happier, healthier, and oh yes, lighter person.

Embarrassed by Your Obesity? Exterminate it With Phendimetrazine

Embarrassed by Your Obesity? Exterminate it With Phendimetrazine

Mirror gives you a true picture of how you look.
When I was overweight I always avoided looking at the mirror. My obesity was driving me away to enjoy life to the fullest. My friends never lost an opportunity to kill me with their sarcasm. I tried many medications, but they did me no good. I went to my doctor in the anticipation of a medical treatment. He prescribed me a weight reducing drug – Phendimetrazine. I got an effective solution to put an end to my obesity.

Obesity in clear terms refers to excess body weight. Surplus fat gets accumulated in your body thus adding to your over-all body weight. Obesity open doors to many diseases risking your life. It leads to serious health problems such as high blood-pressure, increased cholesterol level, diabetes, arthritis etc. To get rid of such an unhealthy state, the weight loss drug phendimetrazine is recommended.

Phendimetrazine is a phenylalkylamine sympathomimetic amine which is used to cure obesity. It acts by stimulating the central nervous system and thus elevates the blood pressure. As a result your appetite decreases. As phendimetrazine is just an appetite suppressant and not a substitute for a balanced diet therefore it should be consumed along with proper diet and regular exercises to get better results.

The weight reducing drug phendimetrazine is usually taken for a short duration of time. Weight loss is greatest in the first week and decreases gradually in the succeeding weeks. This may however vary from person to person depending upon one’s body structure and medical history.

Each phendimetrazine tablet contains 35 grams of phendimetrazine tartrate. Phendimetrazine tartrate is a white, odourless crystalline powder. It is easily soluble in water. In additions to this, it also contains certain inactive ingredients such as lactose USP, magnesium stearate NF, colloidal silicon dioxide, starch NF etc.

Phendimetrazine must be used under complete medical supervision. Follow the directions given by your doctor before consuming the medicine.

Phendimetrazine pills are usually taken two to three times in a day with a full glass of water. Crushing or chewing the medicine may make it loose it’s effect. So swallow the tablet as a whole. One should avoid taking the medicine late in the evening as it can cause insomnia. If you miss a dose, never take a double one, as it can be harmful for your health.

Your doctor may not allow you to consume phendimetrazine pills if you suffer from heart disease, arteriosclerosis, glaucoma or if you have had a history of kidney stones, drug or alcohol abuse. Inform your doctor if you have an anxiety disorder, diabetes, epilepsy disorder or thyroid.

Pregnant ladies should not take phendimetrazine pills without the consultation of a medical practitioner. You should be first aware of its side effects. It can harm your unborn baby.

For nursing mothers phendimetrazine is not advisable as it may enter into breast milk and can prove dangerous for the new born.

Kick away that extra weight from your body with the help of phendimetrazine. Look good and feel good!

The rise in the number of fast foods joints that have a lot of saturated fat in the meals, the use of a lot of refined sugar in sodas and other processed foods and eating food with less fiber have all contributed to the fact that there are more people than before who are classified as either overweight or are obese.

A lot of other factors cause this to happen such as genetics, overeating and as people age; the metabolism slows down making it harder than before to burn the food that was just consumed.

The rate that a person loses weight is commensurate to how it is gained. Rapid weight is not good advisable since it leaves the person with lose skin and the only way to get rid of that would require surgery.

Weight loss depends on the condition of the person which includes weight, health, calorie-intake, age, gender, lifestyle, stress level and routine.

Being overweight does not necessarily make a person unhealthy. It just makes the person a bit unfashionable. Studies have shown that people who are a bit overweight live longer than those who have normal weight.

There is no quick or overnight solution for quick weight loss.

Nutritionists and other health experts will say that a person’s weight with proper exercise can actually help lose a certain number of pounds per week The best way to do this is with a low calorie diet and an exercise plan.

The first thing a person needs to do is to choose a diet program designed by a dietitian or another health professional. The patient has to be evaluated before any program can be made. The program usually consists of an eating plan and an exercise program that does not require the use of supplements or one to purchase any expensive fitness equipment.

The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase ones metabolism and lose weight.

A good diet should have food from all the food groups.

This is made up by 2 things. The first is carbohydrates. The food that a person consumes should have vitamins, minerals and fiber. A lot of this can come from oats, rice, potatoes and cereals. The best still come from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micronutrients that are essential for a healthy diet.

The second is fat which can come from mono and poly saturated food sources rather than animal fats. Since fat contains more than double the number of calories in food, this should be taken in small quantities to lose weight.

All diet plans are designed to make the person induce reduced amount of calories into the body. This does not mean that the person has to eat less. It just means that one has to eat smart by choosing the foods that have less calories. This makes it possible for someone to lose weight without the need to eat less.

During the course of the program, the person should still consult with the doctor and other health experts to monitor ones progress. There will be times that it is essential to modify the diet plan to further lose weight.

It is up to the person already to stick to the program to see that it works.

Walking For Weight Loss

Walking For Weight Loss

Doesn’t it seem like every day brings us another fad diet or other so-called “weight loss miracle”? Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot of these plans really do work, but that’s not the problem. The problem is that there are just so many that it makes it hard for the average person to figure out which ones work and which ones they should pass on. But there is one method that is ideal…walking for weight loss. Let’s take a look at why it is such a good option for shedding those extra pounds.

Before we get to why it’s so good, it’s important to understand a bit about how losing weight works. It all comes down to a simple equation: 3,500 calories is equal to one pound of body weight. So, if you take in an extra 3,500 calories compared to what you burn off, then you will gain a pound. If you get rid of 3,500 calories, you will lose a pound. There are a few exceptions to this because some calories are more easily stored, and not all exercise is the same. Regardless, physical activity is an important part of any weight loss plan.

Almost everybody can go for a walk. Even those who may be missing a leg are usually able to walk. What’s the best way of walking for weight loss? The answer is as simple as can be. All you need to do is put one foot in front of the other, then repeat the process for as many times as you wish.

Another benefit of walking for weight loss is that you need any special equipment, except for a comfortable pair of shoes. There’s no need to buy any special clothes, and you don’t have to join a gym or pay a personal trainer, either.

Walking is a low-impact way to burn calories. In theory, you could walk for hours at a time, though that wouldn’t be practical. Still, if you have been inactive until now, it’s always a good idea to talk to your doctor about your plans. They will be aware of any underlying medical concerns, and can let you know if there are any precautions you need to take.

Exercise burns calories, but it has another benefit for weight loss and that is boosting your metabolism. You will get a little extra help burning calories for a few hours after you have stopped walking. Of course, the more brisk you walk, the more calories you will burn. But any walking is better than none at all.

Finally, people are built to walk. We’re bipedal; it’s in our DNA. It only makes sense that one of the best things you can do for your health is to use the body in a way it was designed for. But…none of this matter if you don’t take action. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and start walking for weight loss.

Hypnosis for weight loss is a well-known method that is gaining prevalence over the years. Through the process of hypnosis, a person’s mindset is suggested to eat less and motivate him to follow his weight loss regimen. Additionally, hypnosis for weight loss is also a useful method for long-term weight management. If you have been battling with your weight problems for a long time and you are considering this method, there are certain steps and expectations that you have to keep in mind in order to be successful with your plans.
• Be realistic with your goals. Hypnosis for weight loss can produce great results especially when you take follow-up sessions. Just like any weight loss methods, the process also takes time in order for it to become effective. According to related studies, weight loss results and long-term weight management can be achieved only when you already adapted the habits and the new mindset that will help you in losing weight efficiently. This can only take place when you regularly attend eight sessions of hypnosis for weight loss. Additionally, seeing the therapist for check-ups will also help him assess if you the hypnosis really worked for you.
• Positive reinforcements.
Hypnosis for weight loss works under the concept which states that “it’s all in the mind.” Since there isn’t any physical tools that will reinforce you in your goal during the hypnosis process other than the therapist’s words. Ask the therapist if his method of hypnosis gears towards positive reinforcement and motivation rather in negative aversions.
• Supplementary weight loss methods. Hypnosis can work in helping you shed the unwanted pounds off, but you also need to explore other possible methods of safe and natural weight loss in order to supplement the hypnotherapy sessions. Hypnosis, on its own, will not make you lose the unwanted pounds that you desperately want to reduce. You can utilize hypnosis as a tool which can motivate you to follow effective work-out programs and motivate you to strive through your weight loss diet plans.
• Follow-through methods. Aside from visiting a hypnotherapist, you can also consider self-hypnosis on days when you don’t have clinical sessions. Related research shows that hypnotherapy sessions of eight weeks, followed by twelve weeks of self-hypnosis yield desirable results.
• Choose the right hypnotherapist. Being under the state of hypnosis can put you in a vulnerable position, thus you will need to be under the care of an experienced and credible hypnotherapist.
Aside from understanding the steps that you will take while undergoing hypnosis for weight loss, bear in mind that you will need to prepare for the activity as well. Since the session will be geared towards accessing your subconscious, and in a way, alter your mindset, you have to make sure that your mental and emotional health are in good condition.
First, always relax your mind and remind yourself of your goals. Focus as well on positive thoughts. The idea of hypnosis can sound quite mysterious for some, and you might feel that you are going through unexplored territories. However, there really is nothing to be afraid of as hypnotherapists with credentials and experiences have taken the oath to follow the ethical practice of therapy. Also, keep an open mind and a set goal. The first step in achieving your goal lies in believing that you can achieve your goal. If you believe that the sessions will be helpful to your weight loss goals, then you already succeeded in half of the battle. There is no point in trying or pursuing something that you just want to do half-heartedly.
